new shoes :)

Mason and I made him some shoes this morning. Well, he slept while I sewed, but i'm sure if he had been awake he would have helped! For the first pair they turned out okay, as long as you don't look too closely!

6 weeks!

Mason is 6 weeks today! Oh my, what a reminder of how fast time flies!

He is growing so much already. Here are a few tidbits about him

We got the first smile at 4 weeks exactly...I have yet to capture one on camera.
He LOVES Wyatt and Natalie. If they aren't in the car with us, he fusses quite a bit...they seem to keep him entertained already! He watches them a lot.
Yep, he mostly looks like Ben. I think his eyes may stay blue, though.
He is getting the sweetest litte fat rolls on his thighs!
His left eye still looks a little rough from being born :(
He's quite a noisy little sleeper...he grunts and groans a lot! Fortunately we have learned to sleep through that.
Speaking of sleeping....in celebration of his 6 week bday, he slept 7 hours straight last night!!!

Yep, he's on a blanket that has flowers....just hope Ben doesn't notice!

DC Trip

While Grace and Suzanne (and Nolan) were here we made a quick trip to DC, hoping to see the butterfly exhibit at the Smithsonian. Unfortunately we didn't get in...it was 'free' day so it was packed--and the kiddos were disappointed. But we still had a good time!

Mason has been doing so good sleeping in his cradle lately...we definitely know we are blessed with this good little sleeper!

I think he looks so big in this picture (as in older). He looks a little scared, too!

Natalie likes to have her picture taken with Mason!

And this is my favorite of our cloth diaper covers! It's a newborn and it still swallows him up!

And just an fyi...we are only cloth diapering part-time, at least until we have the hang of it! It's so easy, especially with a breastfed baby--no rinsing of the diapers, just throw a load in the washer!

Bargain Fashion

So Kelly over at Kelly's Korner has asked readers to post about bargain fashions and finding the best deals.

If you know me well enough (or at all) you'll know that I have this thing about finding a bargain. It's almost an addiction you might say. Now, I try not to buy things that we don't need/can't use, so I like to think that it isn't quite an addiction. But sometimes it comes close.

So my bargain shopping tip? Thrift stores. Mainly Goodwill. Now, you most likely will find a lot of junk at these stores, but if you can find a store that is in a really nice area of town, or a larger city then you'll probably have some great luck. It amazes me what people will throw out (not that donating to goodwill is throwing out, but you know what I mean!)

There is one certain store that is about 30 minutes from us and it's just awesome. And huge! I like to go every few weeks, but lately it's been more often. Kids clothes are 1.67, and adult clothes are usually less than $4. BUT, every week you get 50% off of the "color of the week", meaning the color of the tag. So yesterday I got myself a cute little shirt for $2, and a few things for the kids for .80 cents! And these are great brands, often almost new (or lots of times still with the tags) clothes!

If you are from 'back home' then I can tell you that my shopping at Goodwill...it doesn't come close to the love that I have for Dirt Cheap. It is such a good thing that I don't live near that place!

And while i'm on the subject of bargains--have you checked out craigslist.com? I just love browsing that site! And right now Ben is coming home with this high chair that I have had on my baby registry--for less than 1/2 of what it retails for! And it's like new--with extra covers!

Natalie loves to give Mason his bottle. I had given him one of the first I pumped, hoping it had lots of colostrum to help him get over his cold quickly.

Little Mason has a bit of a stuffy nose today. He sounded yucky last night, but fortunately still slept well (I didn't, though). Natalie was pretty sick on Thurs/Fri last week and I had hoped no one else would pick it up, but even Wyatt sounds a little funny today. Prayers would be appreciated...i'm going to be filling Wyatt up with elderberry today. And thinking i'll take some myself, too.

Here are 2 pics from this weekend. He looks so serious in the first one.

See his wrinkled forehead? He does that a lot!
