What's For Dinner

Tonight we're having Ro-Tel chicken, recipe courtesy of Grammy :)

This is my version--I hope you can understand it!
1 whole chicken or 2-3 chicken breasts
1 box thin spaghetti
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can ro-tel tomatoes
8-16 oz velveeta cheese (depending on how much cheese you like)

Boil chicken (debone) , then remove and boil spaghetti in the remaining broth.  In a saucepan, mix cubed velveeta and c of mushroom until cheese is melted.
In a casserole dish, mix all ingredients together and top with extra cheese.  Bake at 350 for 20-30 minutes (until hot and bubbly).

Oh my....what a scene!

I witnessed something today that still has me shaking my head.  And guessing that these parents need some serious help.

We were going into the grocery store and there was the cutest little girl having a meltdown.  Not just any meltdown--she was literally jumping up and down, stomping her feet, and screaming!!!  Right In Front Of The Store.
All because she wanted to ride IN the cart and her mom was asking her to please wait until they got into the store.  This little cutie wasn't having it.

I kept thinking "if that we my child...."
And then I noticed everyone looking at me like I was supposed to do something!

Then I realized that it was my child.
Oh, I was so embarrassed.   I don't think we've made a scene like that in public in a long time.
What did I do?  I'd like to say that I did what would have happened to me if I had pulled a stunt like that when I was little, but of course you can't do that anymore.
So we went to the car and called dad....poor guy :(   And I did get my shopping done, although i'm sure I looked pretty frazzled!

Map Trek -- A Review

Photobucket

Price: $14.95 for each.
 Knowledge Quest

We recently had the opportunity to review a really neat map e-book from Knowledge Quest on the topic of the Medeival World.  This is a download that will add to your current curriculum, or you could use the e-book to guide you in an independent lesson!

I will be honest with you.  We aren't really at a place right now that I thought we'd be able to take advantage of this tool.  Our oldest is in second grade and I felt like maybe some of this was just a bit advanced for him.   Then I realized that the great thing is I could adjust it to whatever learning level he is at!  There are even suggestions for doing this!  Another neat feature is that different maps are included to show what the land looked like during the time period being studied, and what it looks like in the current time.

Here is the full list of maps that are included in the second volume of Map Trek - Medieval World (There will eventually be 4 volumes):
  • World Map (Landforms)
  • Byzantine Empire
  • Islamic Empire
  • Viking Expansion
  • Empire of Charlemagne
  • The Holy Roman Empire
  • African Kingdoms
  • Norman Conquests
  • The Crusades
  • Mongol Empire
  • Medieval China
  • City Centers of Europe
  • Medieval Japan
  • 12th Century Europe
  • The Black Death
  • Hundred Years' War
  • Renaissance Italy
  • Early Explorers
  • Christopher Columbus
  • Later Explorers
  • Central/South America
  • The Powerful Habsburgs
  • The Netherlands
  • The Reformation
  • The Expansion of Sweden
  • The Expansion of Russia
  • Spanish/Portuguese Empires
  • World Map w/ Grid
  • Europe Map w/ Grid
  • Italy Map w/ Grid
  • England Map w/Grid
  • S. America Map w/ Grid

I am certain that we will be using the Map Quest e-book for years to come!  Since I can print only the parts that I want to use, as well as print multiple copies, we'll be able to refer to this quite a bit!
I will be honest and say that the $14.95 price is a bit steep for me, but with all that is included I think most people will be completely satisfied with that price.

Be sure to visit Knowledge Quest and check out all of the other great resources for educators!

What Mason is up to at One year!

A little rundown of our sweet boy and what he's doing now--mainly for myself ( I tend to not write things down enough).

*Not walking, and not trying.  Hopefully soon!
*Says Choo Choo (has been for weeks now), Wyatt, Hi, Dada, yes (while nodding), thank you.  All of these he will repeat after you except for Choo Choo and Wyatt.
*Eats pretty much every thing, but Yogurt is still his favorite.
*Doesn't sleep through the night :(
*He's into everything!  He has learned to get into the cabinets, push buttons on the tv, and we have to watch the power cords!
*He has to have a spoon or fork when eating.  He tries so hard to use them--it's pretty cute!
*Loves books.  A lot!
*Loves trains.  A lot!

Mason is still such a sweet baby and he has a really fun personality!  We are so thankful that God chose to bless us with him!

Mason is ONE!!!

It's so hard to believe that our little baby is one year old today!!!  Here are a few pictures from the past year!

More Snow Pics!

We made some yummy snow cream last night for dessert!  It tastes just like homemade vanilla ice cream--and it's fun to make!!

The kids were up early this morning, ready to go outside!  Suzanne was suprised at how long it took to get everyone's snow stuff on...and then 5 miutes later two of them were knocking on the door to come back in!  A lot of work for a little bit of play!

Poor Nolan....he didn't like it too much!!
Wyatt and Grace spent a lot of time working on their snow fort!  They had so much fun!

Blizzard Pics!

We certainly expected a lot of snow with this storm, but I don't think we really thought it would be this much!  The kids went out with Ben after breakfast, and Natalie only lasted a few minutes before coming back in.  Wyatt and Ben shoveled the walks and a spot for the animals to go out, and then our awesome neighbor plowed our driveway again (he was out at 4am doing it the first time!).
We're waiting for Grammy and Suzanne (and kids) to make it in.  They stopped overnight about 1.5 hours away, and just got out and on the road again.  Driving really slow, we have no idea when they'll get here.  Ben bought straps for the jeep last night--I think he's hoping that he gets to pull them up the hill :)
