Map Trek -- A Review

Photobucket

Price: $14.95 for each.
 Knowledge Quest

We recently had the opportunity to review a really neat map e-book from Knowledge Quest on the topic of the Medeival World.  This is a download that will add to your current curriculum, or you could use the e-book to guide you in an independent lesson!

I will be honest with you.  We aren't really at a place right now that I thought we'd be able to take advantage of this tool.  Our oldest is in second grade and I felt like maybe some of this was just a bit advanced for him.   Then I realized that the great thing is I could adjust it to whatever learning level he is at!  There are even suggestions for doing this!  Another neat feature is that different maps are included to show what the land looked like during the time period being studied, and what it looks like in the current time.

Here is the full list of maps that are included in the second volume of Map Trek - Medieval World (There will eventually be 4 volumes):
  • World Map (Landforms)
  • Byzantine Empire
  • Islamic Empire
  • Viking Expansion
  • Empire of Charlemagne
  • The Holy Roman Empire
  • African Kingdoms
  • Norman Conquests
  • The Crusades
  • Mongol Empire
  • Medieval China
  • City Centers of Europe
  • Medieval Japan
  • 12th Century Europe
  • The Black Death
  • Hundred Years' War
  • Renaissance Italy
  • Early Explorers
  • Christopher Columbus
  • Later Explorers
  • Central/South America
  • The Powerful Habsburgs
  • The Netherlands
  • The Reformation
  • The Expansion of Sweden
  • The Expansion of Russia
  • Spanish/Portuguese Empires
  • World Map w/ Grid
  • Europe Map w/ Grid
  • Italy Map w/ Grid
  • England Map w/Grid
  • S. America Map w/ Grid

I am certain that we will be using the Map Quest e-book for years to come!  Since I can print only the parts that I want to use, as well as print multiple copies, we'll be able to refer to this quite a bit!
I will be honest and say that the $14.95 price is a bit steep for me, but with all that is included I think most people will be completely satisfied with that price.

Be sure to visit Knowledge Quest and check out all of the other great resources for educators!

That looks really fun even if you aren't homeschooling! I bet my kids would love to look at the maps and they'd be great for homework and projects!
