Before and After

Remember the painting pics I posted not long ago? Well, the majority of the project is done! We (Ben!) still need to put up trim around the rest of the room and paint the other walls. But the best part is done! The next step will be redoing the hardwood floors...that will come eventually!
Ben often tells me of ideas he has for the house, and I usually can't see what he sees. But i've learned to just tell him to do whatever and it always turns out better than I could have expected! You see, everything is in his head. This was done with him taking a few measurements and then going out to the garage and building. If he could do this for a living he would :)

I can't find the pictures from when we bought our house, so I found the best I could to show the before. This is the front corner by the window....this is some hideous 'faux brick'. Not sure what they were thinking b/c this is put next to a brick fireplace....so it is obviously fake!

This is the main wall in the living room, to the right of the door. Our pitiful little TV stand :)

And here are the afters!
Front corner by window
TV cabinet. And he painted the outlet cover for now--apparently the former first lady liked for her outlet covers to be painted :)

A crooked full view :)

Do you like my cat door? No? I do! We don't have a litter box inside anymore and it's wonderful! I still have to decide what to put on all of my shelves!

It's gorgeous! I'm so impressed. If we end up staying in this house I think I just found the guy who is going to put some built-in book shelves downstairs in our family room. I've been wanting to do it for five yrs but Ryan has never wanted to spend the money b/c we've always planned on moving. If our house doesn't sell, I'm going to get my built-ins!

P.S. Are you working on a little blog make-over?? I can't wait to see the finished product! I guess it was time to change the title!

So why on earth would anybody want "faux brick"? Why not just use actual bricks!? o.O
